We are adding a second shift at our state-of-the-art Abilene facility to support the strong demand for our premium pet food products 🐾


Job Summary

Our Production Floaters play a key role in keeping operations running smoothly by supporting multiple positions across the production line. This is a highly versatile role designed for individuals who want to learn every aspect of the line and become fully cross-trained in all production functions.
Production Floaters move between roles as needed—supporting Production Workers, Machine Operators, Quality Technicians, Leads, and other key positions to ensure continuous workflow and coverage across the team.

In this role, you will help ensure production goals are met while maintaining strict adherence to food safety standards, GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices), quality requirements, and company procedures. You will be expected to step into any assigned position, follow established processes, and contribute to a safe, efficient, and high-quality production environment.


What You’ll Do

As a Production Floater, you may be assigned to perform duties across multiple roles, including but not limited to Production Worker, Machine Operator, QA support, Lead support, and Material Handling functions.

Production & Equipment Support
  • Start up, operate, and shut down production equipment
  • Assist with production line operations across multiple stations
  • Feed materials into machines for processing
  • Load and unload machines, carts, dollies, and production equipment
  • Package finished products and support assembly tasks
  • Place items on conveyors for further processing
Quality, Safety & Compliance
  • Follow all QA, GMP, HACCP, and food safety procedures
  • Ensure product conformance to company specifications and standards
  • Mix, measure, and pour ingredients according to instructions
  • Turn valves and operate equipment controls as required
  • Mark, label, and record production and quality data accurately
Material Handling & Flow
  • Move raw materials, WIP, packaging, and finished goods safely throughout the facility
  • Sort, wrap, pack, and repackage products as needed
  • Transfer finished goods to holding freezers or designated storage areas
  • Return materials to proper departments following established procedures
Cleaning & Housekeeping
  • Clean production areas, including sweeping, mopping, and debris removal
  • Scrape waste material from equipment and maintain sanitation standards
  • Ensure all work areas remain clean, organized, and safe throughout the shift
General Support
  • Take direction from supervisors and shift leads
  • Assist wherever needed to maintain production flow
  • Complete tasks accurately and efficiently under changing priorities
  • Maintain punctual and consistent attendance

Qualifications & Skills 

Required
  • Less than high school education; OR minimum 6 months of related experience/training; OR equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions
  • Ability to communicate simple information clearly (reading, writing, speaking basic sentences)
  • Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages
  • Ability to perform basic weight and quantity measurements

  • Ability to follow standardized procedures in a fast-paced environment
  • Good problem-solving skills using common sense in routine situations

Compensation
$20.00 – $22.00 per hour

Schedule

🕒 2nd Shift
Monday – Friday
3:00 PM – 11:30 PM


⚠️ Candidates must be flexible and available to work daily overtime as needed.
